16.5.2010 Turo and Zola on Cavalier Chatterbox
I was kindly asked to tell something about our hobby agility on Cavalier Chatterbox by Mrs. Norma Inglis. Here is the page: Click >>
13.2.2010 Turo qualified for the Finnish Championships in agility
Turo made it! My little black superman completed the required results for the Finnish Championships in agility in 2010 by making two clear runs today. I wonder if there ever has been a conformation champion cavalier competing for the national champonships in agility in Finland. I have a gut feeling that he'll be the first one and this only proves that a cavalier can be both beautiful and bright:)
10.10.2009 District championships in agility
Zola was in the team that won the bronze medal today at the championships of the district in agility. Turo had been chosen to the team as well but unfortunately he accidentally hurt his back just days before and had to withdraw.
3.10.2009 Agility competition
Turo made two clear runs and is now a little bit closer to the goal of 7 clear runs to enter the Finnish championships next Summer.
24.8.2009 Championships of Turku Toydog Club
At the end of August we competed in the annualy championships of our club. There were two classes both in agility and obedience; the novice class for beginners and the open class for advanced dogs. The results for us were as follows:
Agility Novice Class: Mila 0 faults, 1/12
Agility Open Class: Zola 0 faults, 1/19; Turo 5 faults, 9/19
Obedience Novice Class: Turo 58/60 points, 1/7
Obedience Open Class: Mila 57/60 points, 1/10, Zola 57/60 points 2/10
9.8.2009 Turo now Swedish Champion
Turo was BOB out of 69 cavaliers in Askersund, Sweden under breed specialist Joakim Ohlsson. Thus, he was given the CAC and was made up Swedish Champion.
8.6.2009 Agility results
18.1.2009 Turo won by making a faultless run in agility class two.
13.4.2009 Turo made his third clear run in class two and by ending second he was given his second agility CAC and moved to the final class to compete.
3.5.2009 Zola made her second clear run in class two and won the competition.
16.5.2009 Zola won again with a faultless run and was given the agility CAC and moved to class three. Turo made his first run in class three and almost made it through the course without faults, but unfortunately dropped the pole on the very last obstacle.
31.5.2009 Turo made his first clear run in class three and ending second only losing to an agilitychampion!
20.2.2009 Turo BIS at the specialty in Estonia
Turo and I travelled to Estonia to take part in their specialty. The judge was the Swedish Cavalier breeder, Joakim Ohlsson (Hackensack) and my intetion was to try to get the CAC. The show took place in a very charming environment: in the suburbs of Tallin in the gymnasium of an old school. It was rather crowded inside; the entry had probably surprised the arrangers as well. Still, everything went on very well thaks to the expertise of the judge and the stewards.

Turo did very well getting a really nice critique and winning his class, being the best black and tan adult dog, best black and tan dog and best black and tan altogether, and also getting the tickets to the best head competition and best mover competition. In the BIS ring Turo continued perfoming well and was eventually chosen Best in Show!

13.10.2008 Agility results
Turo made his fourth clear run and came second in agility class one and was thus given his first agility-CAC and moved to class two to compete. As he had been entered on two courses he had to make the second one in class two. Turo continued to perform well and did a faultless run again ending second!
13.9.2008 Agility results
Turo made two fautless runs and became third and second. Zola made one clear run and came third.

22.6.2008
In the beginning of May we had our specialty and we were honoured to have Mrs Veronica Hull as judge for the dogs and Sylvia Lymer for the bitches. Both Turo and Zola got excellent and were shortlisted among the dogs that got excellent, but eventually did not quite make it to the the top four. Turo also got the ticket for the best head competition.

18 May Zola was best bitch two and the winner being a champion already Zola was awarded the CAC.

Last Friday Zola started her agility career in the official competitions and did quite well managing to do two clear runs. One more clear run and she'll be given the first Agility CAC and moved to class 2 to compete.
10.2.2008 Agility results
Turo has started his agility career. He has taken part in two (unofficial) competitions and has had a brilliant start. In the first competition he did a faultless run and came second, and in his second competition he didn't make any mistakes either and on top of that had the fastest time, so he won!
15.12.2007 Show results
In December Leeni and I travelled to Stockholm, Sweden to take part in the Nordic Winner show 2007. We had Mrs. Sheilagh Waters as judge. Leeni's young boy, Edi, took part in the junior class and did fairly well ending up as forth in the class. Then it was Turo's turn to enter the intermediate class. He was still quite a baby for this class having just turned 15 months, but he did alright ending up as second in the class and getting CK, the ticket to best dog class. There were a lot of really beautiful dogs in the best dog class and we felt quite honoured to be amongst them, and it wasn't a disappointment not ending up as one of the five best dogs. After the show the Swedish breeders put up a pick nick in the ring and kindly also invited us to join them. This is a tradition of theirs, and it was really nice, indeed.
21.10.2007 Show results
On September 21st Tina and I drove to Seinäjoki International show. It was quite far away but the judge was a cavalier breeder, Joakim Ohlsson, from Sweden (kennel Hackensack) and I really wanted to have his opinion on my dogs. Both Zola and Elmo got only Good because they have white on their chests, although the critique was fairly nice otherwise. Turo, instead, did very well: he got excellent and won the junior class and finally ended up as third best dog and got the res-CC.
30.9.2007 Agility results
Turo went to the vet on Wednesday to have his vaccination. At the same time he had his heart and patellas checked officially, i.e the results were sent to the Finnish Kennelclub to be registered in the data base. Both were OK, so now I can enroll him on an agility course! Exciting.

Today Zola took part in an unofficial agility competition in a class for dog that have not yet competed in official competitions. We did quite well: no faults and we beat the ideal time by nearly 10 seconds and became third.
26.8.2007 Show results
On the 26th of August Turo and Zola took part in the specialty of toydogs in Helsinki. Our judge was Robert Lamont, though Rainer Vuorinen took the dogs in junior class, intermediate class and veterans due to such a great amount of cavalier entries. Mr. Vuorinen was quite strict and gave only two dogs excellent (both juniors) one of which was my Turo. Then Turo won the class and went on to the best dog class. Mr. Lamont liked him also and placed him as third best dog after two champions, and thus we got the CAC! What a great show to get the CAC with so many good dogs entered. I'm also very pleased that Mrs. Heather Lamont came to congratulate me for the CAC and tell me Turo looks lovely :)

Zola got very good with a much better critique than I expected. Topi's son was entered in open class and he came second with very good.
27.7.2007 Pori Int
Today we went to the international dog show in Pori with Dr. Andreas Schemel as judge. Turo got excellent and came third in his class, while Zola got excellent and won her class.
10.6.2007 Dog Show in Vehmaa
Today I went to a dog show with all my cavaliers. This was the first time Turo took part in an official show in Finland. And what a tremendous day we had! Turo went on winning junior class with excellent and then ending up as second best male, he got the CAC as the winning dog (Oak's Edward in veteran class) already is a champion. My blenheim Topi was the only champion entered in champion class and by gaining excellent he also continued to the best dog of the breed class and was placed third. Topi's son, Elmo, was fourth best male and got the res-CAC. My bitch, Zola, also got excellent and became second in the big junior bitch class (11 entries). This was truly a day to remeber!
7.6.2007 Obedience competition
Today Mila got her third first price in the beginners class and received the title TK1.
30.5.2007 Obedience competition
Today Zola took part in her first obedience competition. I was quite nervous about it. Even though I know she is good, she is still very young and literally anything can happen. She did a fantastic job, though, and gained a first price and thus the right to compete in next class. We will, however stay in this beginners class as long as it is possible to get experience.
13.5.2007 Dog Show in Salo
Today Turo went to his first dog show. He took part in the puppy class. Being the only dog and gaining the honorary price, he got to compete against the best puppy bitch over whom Turo won, so he became best puppy of the breed. Quite a nice start to his show career :)

Zola took part in the junior class. There were 8 bitches and Zola was the only one who got excellent and thus she won her class. Eventually she went on being best bitch 4, so we had a very nice day in this show.
Year 2006 in a nut shell
We started the year in grief. The operation Jaki had was too much for him after all although it first seemed he was recovering well. A short while after the loss of our dear Jaki, my dogs' breeder came to visit Topi with a ruby bitch. However, the progesterone test she had had indicated it was too late for a mating, but, we still decided to give it a go and to our amazement Wilma ended up with six ruby puppies. I had inquired for a wholecolour male from abroad, but as the mating didn't give any puppies, I decided to get one of Topi and Wilma's puppies instead.

There were three girls to choose from and it was a very tough decision as the litter was very even. Eventually I decided to take the girl with the prettiest head and the least white on her chest even though she had some white on her head. Leeni, the breeder, and I thought, however, that it would disappear, and so it did. Zola settled in very well and seems to be quite like her father what comes to training and learning new things and that I really appreciate.

In April Mila had her puppies; 4 boys and 2 girls. One of the girls went on breeding terms so at least she will be seen in dog shows.

Topi's progency from the first litter started their career in dog shows with quite nice results. A couple of judges have not liked the fact that both Elmo and Daisy have quite much white on their chests, but otherwise the critique has been very promising. Zola went to a few puppy shows and got nice critiques a well. Once she was Best puppy of the breed and Best in Group 4.

In November Leeni Norrvik (kennel Oak's) got a meassage from Mrs Jane Naylor (kennel du Nid du Faisan) in France that she had a very promising black and tan dog which would be available for us if we wanted him. After seeing his pedigree and some pictures it was obvious that this was an opportunity that couldn't be dismissed. And thus, Bacchante du Nid du Faisan, Turo, joined our family. He is very sweet and has an excellent temperament; happy, calm, brave, gentle and affectionate. THANK YOU Jane for this lovely boy, and Leeni for all your help.
10.12.05 Resume of year 2005
Oops, it seems that I´ve been terribly lazy at updating the English pages. Shame on me! Thus, here is a short summary of what has happened during this year.

Topi took part in a few shows with fairly good results as he was placed in the best dog-class six times of eight shows. We even went to Sweden, but ending up as best dog 2, we didn´t get the much sought CC. Better luck next time. Topi also started in obedience competitions and did a fantastic job getting the a first price three weekends in a row and gaining the title TK1. In August the first offsprings of Topi´s saw the daylight. We´ll be following their development and possible participation in shows and obedience and agility competitions with great interest.

Jaki received his second agility CC in spring and was thus moved to class 3 to compete. In summer we took part in the championchips for cavaliers in agility and ended up second. Not bad for an eight and a half years old dog. We also participated in the championchips of the district and were placed 16th. Jaki also returned to the dog shows after a couple of years and did better than ever before once even ending up as best veteran of the breed. Eventually he got 8 points and missed barely the top-ten list of the best veteran of the year-competition for cavaliers. In November Jaki had to be operated having eaten something unsuitable. His bowls were in quite a bad state and the vet wasn´t too sure of him surviving. But luckily he pulled through.

Mila was mated in the beginning of the summer but without success. Therefore she will be mated again in the near future. We went to one dog show, but having just turned two and competing in the open class, she was once again considered too undeveloped compared to the other bitches, so now we are back home growing:) In the end of the summer we went to a field trial for retrievers and did very well until the final part of the test in which we failed. Even though we didn´t pass the test, I as quite happy with how much Mila has improved during the year. Hopefully she´ll get more courage with age and be able to pass the test later on. We also went to one obedience competition and got a first price.
30.1.05 Int. Dog Show in Turku
Mila participated in the intermediate class and ended up 4th with VG and Topi got the same result in champion class.
